Espressif To Release A Dual Band Chip

Dual Band IoT Sweetness

I was excited to read today via a press release on Espressif’s website, an upcoming chip release that now supports dual band (2.4 & 5GHz) wifi networks! This new chip, the ESP32-C5 will be able to take advantage of 5GHz networks, and therefore lower latency wireless connectivity in IoT environments from Home Automation to Industrial Controls. The ESP32 is already a very capable chip that has plenty of horsepower to deploy AI at the edge. With lower latency provided by 5GHz networks, this is huge, and expands the usefulness of Espressif’s ESP32 platform. Read more about the development on Espressif’s site.

I am excited because IoT is the ONLY reason I keep a 2.4GHz network on the air. I would love nothing more than to sunset my 2.4GHz network as I move my home automation to 5GHz.
