Chinese Domain Blocklist

Why Did I Create It?

As of late, China has become a real threat to our national interests and security. You may have heard how Congress has real and valid concerns about TikTok, what it’s doing to our culture, data harvesting, and more importantly, how that company is manipulating the minds of our young people. The Chinese work hard with decades-long vision and goals to undermine American interests. China is not our friend, anyone who thinks otherwise, has their head in the sand.

How To Use It?

Using my “No China” blocklist is very simple. You can use a DNS blocker like PiHole, or other ad blocker that allows you to use custom lists to setup blocks on your network so that any device on your network will be prohibited from visiting a chinese site. The URL for the list to add to your PiHole or other DNSBL filter is:

https://tools.wizworks.net/cnbl.txt

Simply copy and paste the above URL into your PiHole config like so:

Once added, be sure to select the network groups (if you have multiple) you would like to apply this to:

Once you do these steps, the last step required to enable the new list is to run the following command on your Pi-Hole console: (ssh to your pihole)

pihole -g

This last step is done anytime you wish to update all or one of your lists. It will also pull down any new changes that are added to any of your lists and is a good idea to set a monthly cron job to kick this off so it is automatically done for you.

I Have Discovered A New Chinese Domain Not On Your List

As new Chinese entities create new domains, they will of course need to be added to this list. You can easily do so using a single entry or a bulk import via text file. To do so, visit the page to add new entries:
